ANNE HATHAWAY COTTAGE

Anne Hathaway Cottage, located in the Green Lake Conference Center, was built in 1939 by Walter and Elsie Smith. Mrs. Smith, a native of England, hired an English architect to reproduce the Anne Hathaway Cottage in Stratford, England. All of the lumber used to construct the home was harvested from the land it is located on - hand carved, cut, sanded and stained. The unique steelcased windows and antique furnishings were shipped from England to complete the reproduction, making the Anne Hathaway Cottage one of the most unique homes on Green Lake.

Despite its size, a "cottage" atmosphere is felt in every room. The most beautiful view of the lake is from the large floor to ceiling windows in the living room. Vaulted ceilings and expansive master suites flourish with charming details, antique fixtures and comfort.

It was in the mid 1940's when Max and Lorraine Rysdon came to Green Lake for a Baptist Conference and fell in love with the home. They purchased it and started taking family trips every summer. The home is now owned by the family's non-profit subsidiary company, The Sioux Steel Company Foundation.

The Rysdon family still vacations at Anne Hathaway Cottage every summer and is proud of its fourth generation legacy. Funds taken in from Anne Hathaway cottage in Green Lake, Wisconsin, are invested and given to charitable organizations and used to manage and maintain the home year 'round. We hope you enjoy the home as much as we do.

Master Bedroom 1: Main Floor - Two twin canopy beds, window seats, private bath, antiques are highlighted by the new decorating in 2004.

Bedroom 2: Main Floor - Connected to the master bedroom and master bath, two twin beds.

Bedroom 3: Second Level - Two twin beds. This bedroom has two entrances, one of which leads to a balcony overlooking the main dining area.

Bedroom 4: Second Level - Two twin beds. Known as the "Red Room," this bedroom boasts canopy beds, seating areas and private bath.

Bedroom 5: Second Level - Two twin beds.

Bedroom 6 and 7: Second Level - Bedrooms 6 and 7, once the maid's quarters, can be accessed via the main handcarved staircase or the secret passage that leads to the kitchen. Bedroom 6 offers two twin beds, Bedroom 7 has one twin. Both rooms are connected by a door and share a private bath.
